Some pictures of the first series of the Where the Wild Things Are toys, years before the they did the movie versions of the characters. I had a hand in painting these guys as did everybody working with me in the paint department at McFarlane Toys in NJ. The backgrounds were printouts from photoshopped bits of the book and the grass was just astroturf from the hardware store I had painted with latex paints color-matched to the book.
